Disney’s Coral Reef Restaurant Review

Dining in Disney is half of the fun because they are filled with fantastic theming and yummy food for everyone. As an animal lover and Disney lover, the way the restaurant is presented is just as important to me as the taste of the food.

Epcot has a large range of dining options, especially throughout their World Showcase, but one restaurant for me that stuck out and became a favourite of mine was the Coral Reef restaurant.

LOCATION: Future World, next door to Nemo and Friends  EPCOT

THEME: Nemo, fish, under water, sharks, diving etc.

PRICE RANGE: $15 + (some dining plans accepted)

I had the Shrimp & Grits main which was delicious. Included was Sauteed Shrimp, cheddar cheese grits, corn succotash, andouille sausage, creole spice emulsion.

The creamy grits was tasty and the shrimp mixed with sausage was new and flavourful. I will say that if you aren’t a fan of salty food, this may not be to your taste as it was quite salty. If you aren’t a fish lover, fear not as they serve steak and oven roasted chicken breast which are just as tasty!

For dessert I chose based on recommendation which was the sea turtle cheesecake. I don’t believe they do this anymore but never say never, it may return! Whilst this was really lovely, I can’t say that it blew me away in terms of flavour because it tasted like a normal white chocolate, vanilla cheesecake with a biscuit core centre instead of a base with caramel drizzle and a candied blue sugar top. The look of it was fantastic though as you can see in the image below, which as I said above, theming is just as important!

Dining in the coral reef is amazing as you have a feeling of being underwater with the fishes due to the large fish tank in the room with you. It is a fantastic view as not only do you get to see the amazing sea creatures such as turtles, fish and sharks, but you may also have a surprise visit from one of the divers who will wave to you as you dine!

My overall rating of the restaurant would be 8/10 for food, 10/10 for theming. The food is delicious however it lost two points due to the lack of unique dessert choices.

This is great for a casual lunch or formal dinner.
